A common tale from immigrants in every country is of having to do jobs which they are over qualified for. This is usually due to an inability to use the qualifications from their home country in their new one. It is a difficult situation which can see lawyers and doctors having to take up lower paid and more manual jobs. However, any newcomer with the burning desire to succeed in Australia can also choose to learn new skills or else re-study in their own specialist area. Study the Country

The last point was all about career choices but this one is more about feeling a part of the place. It is a strange feeling to live in a country and not know its history. In fact, there are immigrants who never learn that much about their new home county. It is a good idea to sort this out quickly by learning about Australian history and culture. It is a fascinating subject anyway, and learning it should be interesting enough for anyone who doesn’t already know all about it.

Of course it is vital for any new arrival, and to learn English Sydney, Melbourne and all of the big cities give a number of ways of doing this. Unless you have been in the situation it is difficult to imagine how frustrating it is to not fully understand the television, newspapers and conversations on the street. The good news is that there are now language classes all over the country. If you want to learn English Gold Coast, Canberra, Newcastle and Adelaide are all equally good places to do so. With this skill learned the immigrant will feel a lot more comfortable about looking for a job which suits them and looking to make some new friends too.
